HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team shot a second round score of 301 to finish third out of 18 teams at the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College at the Lakeview Golf Course on Sunday.
The Generals shot a two-day score of 302-301—603 and finished 14 strokes behind Hampden-Sydney, who claimed the team championship with a score of 296-293—589. The host Eagles placed second with a 295-304—599.
Bridgewater's Matt Dye finished as the individual medalist after carding a -1 score of 71-72—143.
Junior Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) and first-year Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) paced the Generals as both finished in a tie for seventh-place. Clossin carded a 73-76—149, while Hurst posted a 76-73—149.
First-year Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) placed in a tie for 23rd with a 75-78—153 and first-year Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) finished in a tie for 27th with a 78-76—154. Junior Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) rounded out the W&L contingent in the field with an 84-76—160 that tied for 47th-place overall out of 88 competitors.
Washington and Lee returns to action on September 30 when it participates in the two-day Joe Agee Invitational that is hosted by William & Mary at the Williamsburg Club.
