DATAW ISLAND, S.C. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team finished ninth out of 13 teams at the Taylor Made Adidas Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the Cotton Dike Course in Dataw Island, S.C.
The Generals shot a final round score of 332 to finish with a three-round total of 321-320-332—973. Faulkner University was the team champion after shooting a score of 299-304-316—919. Centenary finished second with a 322-312-313—947 and Hampden-Sydney finished third with a 311-310-334—955. Hardin-Simmons was fourth (318-324-318—960), followed by Mt. St. Joseph (319-324-321—964), Ohio Wesleyan (316-316-333—965), Wake Tech (316-316-333—965), Hanover (321-328-317—966), W&L, Shenandoah (332-338-323—993), Virginia Wesleyan (335-339-343—1017), Nazareth (360-342-349—1051) and MacMurray (363-346-377—1086).
Centenary's Zander Winston finished as the individual medalist, carding a +5 score of 77-73-71—221. Sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) led the Generals by tying for fifth with a +15 score of 74-77-80—231.
First-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) was 12th with a 75-79-80—234, while junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) finished tied for 36th with an 85-77-85—247. Sophomore Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) tied for 45th with an 85-82-85—252, and first-year Festus Turlington (Clinton, N.C. / Clinton) tied for 61st with a 90-87-87—264. Junior Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y. / Amherst Central) rounded out the W&L goflers in the field, placing 72nd with a score of 87-88-101—276.
Washington and Lee returns to action on March 22-24 when it participates in the Marine Corps Intercollegiate held at the Paradise Point Golf Club in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
