W&L Golf Shoots 296 in Day One of the Pine Needles Intercollegiate
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – The Washington and Lee golf team shot an opening round score of 296 at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate hosted by Guilford College at the Pine Needles Resort on Monday.
The host Quakers lead the tournament after the first day with a score of 291.
Individually for the Generals, first-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) leads the way with a -2 score of 69. Junior Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y. / Amherst Central) carded a +2 score of 73, while sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) posted a 74. Junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) notched an 80 and first-year Festus Turlington (Clinton, N.C. / Clinton) recorded an 84.
Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from the Pine Needles Resort.
