W&L Golf Resides in Sixth-Place at the Ted Keller Memorial
GLEN ALLEN, Va. – The Washington and Lee golf team carded an opening round 314 and ranks sixth out of 11 teams at the Ted Keller Memorial held at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club on Saturday.
Host Randolph-Macon leads the field after posting a 290. The Yellow Jackets are followed by Guilford (294) and Franklin & Marshall (299). Hampden-Sydney (307) and Stevenson (311) round out the Top 5.
Individually, Randolph-Macon's Kyle Fuller leads the way with a -2 score of 70. First-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) is the top General in the field, sitting in a tie for ninth-place after shooting a 75 (+3).
Junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) shot a 78 and is tied for 31st overall, while sophomore Stu Lotz (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) posted an 80 and is tied for 37th. Sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) and junior Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y. / Amherst Central) rounded out W&L's players in the field. Clossin shot an 81 and is tied for 40th, while Struebing posted an 85 and is tied for 58th.
Action continues from Hunting Hawk on Sunday with the second and final round.
