CAPE CHARLES, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's golf team shot a 307 on Tuesday to finish third out of eight teams at the ODAC Championship held at the Bay Creek Resort.
Guilford claimed the team title after posting a score of 296-300—596. Roanoke finished second with a 310-305—615 and was followed by W&L (315-307—622), Randolph-Macon (318-308—626), Bridgewater (313-316—629), Hampden-Sydney (319-313—632), Lynchburg (316-327—643) and Virginia Wesleyan 354-346—700.
Roanoke senior Brandon Ketron finished as the individual medalist, carding a one-over par score of 74-71—145.
Senior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce Ark./Episcopal) and first-year Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn./McCallie School) paced the Generals as both tied for 11th-place out of 40 individuals. Anthony shot 75-78—153 and Clossin finished at 79-74—153.
Sophomore Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) tied for 17th with an 80-76—156 and sophomore Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) tied for 22nd with a score of 81-79—160. Junior Will Hatfield (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) rounded out the Generals' competitors in the tournament, shooting an 86-85—171 to tie for 31st-place.
Washington and Lee has now completed its play for the 2011-12 season. Guilford receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
