W&L Golf Ties for Fourth at the BC Tom Kinder Memorial

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee golf team fired a second round 299 on Monday to place fourth out of 15 teams with a 306-299--605 at the Bridgewater Tom Kinder Invitational held at the Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Generals' "B" team carded a two-day score of 338-317--655 to finish 11th out of 15 squads.

First-year John Torell (Bronxville, N.Y./Brunswick School) paced the Generals with a fifth-place tie with a two-day total of 75-72--147.  Classmate Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) was second on the team and tied for 14th overall with a 76-74--150, while senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) finished in a tie for 20th with a 76-76--152. First-year Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) and junior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) rounded out the W&L A-squaders with scores of 79-80--159 and 83-77--160, respectively.

On the "B" squad, senior Tom Bowden (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) led the way by tying for 11th place overall with a 77-72--149.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Monday as it competes in the two-day Hampden-Sydney Invitational held at the Manor Golf Club in Farmville, Va.
