  • W&L Claims the 2015 ODAC Overall Sports Champion Cup
    May 13, 2015
    For the 13th-consecutive year, Washington and Lee University has claimed the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Wednesday. The Generals also claimed Women’s Commissioner’s Cup on their way to the overall title for the 2014-15 school year.

    The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual athletics award ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening. The event, made possible by the generosity of the Brookby Family, honors student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2014-15 school year a tremendous success.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 216 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
  • Murtha Earns VaSID Rookie of the Year Honor

    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2014-15 College Division Men’s Basketball All-State Team on Wednesday, and first-year forward Clayton Murtha (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) was named the Rookie of the Year and earned Second Team All-State accolades.

    The seventh-seeded Washington and Lee men’s basketball team went almost six minutes without scoring at the end of the first half, as seconded-seeded Virginia Wesleyan earned an 81-53 victory in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament at the Salem Civic Center on Thursday.

The total contains 34 more athletes than any previous fall term and is 14 more than in any previous winter term.
