LEXINGTON, Va. — Senior center Drew Kimberly (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and was selected to the All-ODAC Second Team, as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball awards on Thursday.
Kimberly, a computer science and mathematics double major, is averaging 14.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest this season. He is fourth in the ODAC in field goal percentage at 58.5 percent (134-229), fifth in rebounds per game and fifth in blocked shots (23).
He has recorded eight double-doubles, which is the fourth-highest total in the conference. Kimberly has notched 15-or-more points 12 times this season, including a career-high 24 against 20th-ranked Randolph-Macon on February 22. His field-goal percentage is currently the seventh-best single-season mark in W&L history, and his career field goal percentage (56.2) is the fourth highest in program history.
Earlier this season, Kimberly received Capital One Division III Academic All-District honors. This is the first time he has earned All-ODAC accolades, and he becomes the first men's basketball player to be recognized as the ODAC Scholar-Athlete since Ben Goetsch '10 in 2010.
The 11th-seeded Generals (7-19) play third-seeded Guilford (17-8) in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday at 8:00 pm at the Salem Civic Center.
