ODAC Announces Fall and Winter Sportsmanship Teams
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2013-14 ODAC/StellarOne Fall and Winter Sportsmanship teams on Thursday, and Washington and Lee had several athletes honored among the 12 sports.

W&L Field Hockey Garners NFHCA Honors
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and the recipients of the national Academic Team Award recently. Washington and Lee garnered the team award, and placed 16 players on the academic squad. It is the most players to earn the accolade for W&L since 16 were named in 2009.

W&L Hires Kylie Cale as Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Kylie Cale as assistant field hockey coach. She begins on February 3.

Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 190 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50.

The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2013 College Division All-State Field Hockey Team on Thursday and Washington and Lee senior defender Riley Hampsch (Hopedale, Mass. / Hopedale) was among those honored.

NCAA Awards W&L 2014-15 NCAA Field Hockey Championships
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced on Wednesday that Washington and Lee University has been selected to host the 2014 and 2015 Division III Field Hockey National Championships.

Washington and Lee senior defender Riley Hampsch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) was recently named to the 2013 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-South Region Second Team.

Schulmeyer Wins ODAC Rookie of the Year for Field Hockey
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2013 Field Hockey All-Conference teams on Wednesday, and Washington and Lee first-year defender Noelani Schulmeyer (Glen Arm, Md./St. Paul’s School) was named the Rookie of the Year. Schulmeyer also earned Third Team All-ODAC honors.

With four second half goals, third seeded Randolph-Macon knocked the sixth seeded Washington and Lee field hockey team out of the ODAC Tournament, 5-2, on Saturday.

Randolph Macon junior defender Carrie Jacobs (Orange, Va./Orange County) scored two goals to lead the Yellow Jackets (9-8, 6-1 ODAC) past the Washington and Lee field hockey team, 3-1, on Saturday at the W&L Turf Field.

Stefanic Leads W&L Field Hockey Past Sewanee, 3-2
Led by junior forward Candice Stefanic (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), the Washington and Lee field hockey team came from behind to defeat Sewanee, 3-2, at the W&L Turf Field on Monday. Stefanic tallied two goals in the contest, including the game-winner with 11:17 left in the game.

For the second straight game, the Washington and Lee field hockey team came up shot, as this time it lost at home to Centre, 2-1, on Saturday.

W&L Field Hockey Falls at Shenandoah, 4-3
The Washington and Lee field hockey team scored two goals in the final seven minutes but it wasn’t enough, as they lost at Shenandoah on Thursday, 4-3. Junior forward Ashley Cross led the Hornets (7-9, 3-2 ODAC), scoring three of the team’s four goals.
