    Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 242 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 224 set during the fall of 2014.

    Eleven Generals Earn All-ODAC Football Honors The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2016 all-conference football team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had 11 players honored, while junior linebacker Max Garrett (Fairfield, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) was also honored as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

    Washington and Lee Football - Bridgewater Game Notes Washington and Lee and Bridgewater will be meeting for the 47th time, with the Generals holding a 27-19 advantage in the all-time series that began during the 1964 season. W&L has won four of the last six between the two teams, but has won just one of the last eight contests played at Jopson Field. The last W&L win at Bridgewater was a 35-34 victory back in 2010.

The Generals have also won eight straight against Macon in Lexington, with the last loss coming during the 1998 season.

    Washington and Lee Football - Hampden-Sydney Game Notes W&L and Hampden-Sydney will be meeting for the 75th time, with the Tigers holding a 38-34-2 advantage in the all-time series that began during the 1899 season. H-SC has won six of the last nine meetings, but W&L claimed a 35-28 win last season at H-SC. The series has been high-scoring of late, with the two teams combining to score at least 57 points in each of the last nine meetings. The lowest score for a winning team during that span was 35 points, which has happened twice. The Generals are 20-18-2 all-time against the Tigers at Wilson Field.

In fact, this game will mark W&L’s first-ever game against a team from the state of California. The last time that the Generals faced a school from west of the Mississippi River was a battle with Washington University of St. Louis on Nov. 12, 1988. W&L won that game 17-13.

The two teams have not met since 2003 when JHU recorded a 36-7 victory at Homewood Field. The teams played every season from 1997-2003 and Hopkins won six of the seven meetings over that span.

    ODAC Announces 2015-16 All-Academic Team The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2015-16 All-Academic Team on Friday and Washington and Lee once again led the league in number of athletes honored.
