LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee scored three runs after the fifth inning of game two to earn a double-header split with sixth-ranked Randolph-Macon in ODAC baseball action on Friday evening at Smith Field.  R-MC took game one by a score of 7-1 and W&L took the nightcap, 4-2.

In game two, the Yellow Jackets (15-3, 3-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning courtesy of RBI doubles from junior first baseman Jay Patti (Sparks, Md./Hereford) and senior outfielder Christian Sanderson (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest).  From there, W&L junior right hander Tom Concklin (Hinsdale, Ill. / Hinsdale Central) settled down, holding the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard for the next four innings as the offense got going.

The Generals (15-9, 3-4) pushed across a single run in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI double by junior third baseman Ryan Weston (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula).  W&L then took the lead in the sixth inning when Weston delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2, and senior centerfielder Luke Myer (Durham, N.C. / Durham Academy) scored on a throwing error by the Yellow Jacket third baseman for a 3-2 lead.  The Blue & White pushed across an insurance run in the eighth on another R-MC error and first-year right hander Danny Devereux (Mount Prospect, Ill. / Prospect) surrendered just one hit in the final two innings to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Weston finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while junior first baseman Jonny Swenson (Newnan, Ga. / Newnan) finished 2-for-3 with a triple.  Sophomore left fielder Kyle Ruedisili (Jupiter, Fla. / The Benjamin School) added two hits in four at-bats with one run scored.  Concklin earned the win (4-0) after allowing five hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work.  He struck out six and walked one batter.

Senior catcher Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) led R-MC at the plate, going 2-for-4.  Sophomore right hander Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) took the loss (1-3), allowing eight hits over seven innings.

In the opener, Randolph-Macon senior left hander James Walsh (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) tossed seven innings of three-hit ball to earn his fifth win (5-0) of the season.  The Yellow Jackets pushed across three runs in the first inning and never looked back in claiming the win.

Junior third baseman Stuart Brown (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a 2-for-5 showing at the plate, plating two runs.  Sophomore shortstop Austin Crane (Darien, Conn. / Fairfield College Prep) paced W&L's offense with a 3-for-4 performance.  First-year right hander Kevin McHugh (Forest Hill, Md. / McDonogh School) fell to 3-2 on the season after surrendering 11 hits and five earned runs in four innings of work.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Eastern Mennonite for a 3:00 pm contest.
