W&L's Tabb Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior women's tennis player Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III At-Large First Team.

Tabb was one of 10 athletes from a pool of 25 different sports among small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida to be named to the squad. The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve, and claim a GPA of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.

Tabb will now be put on the national ballot with a chance to be named an Academic All-American.

The ODAC's Women's Tennis Player of the Year, ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a First Team All-ODAC selection at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles this spring, Tabb boasts an overall singles record of 16-6 and a doubles ledger of 20-7. Her 88 career singles wins are tied for sixth all-time at W&L, while her 107 career doubles wins are good for second all-time, just one behind the career record of 108.

The fifth-ranked Generals finished the season with a 20-5 overall mark and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championships before falling to third-ranked Emory, 5-2.

A four-time All-American, Tabb will take part in the NCAA Division III Individual Championships in both the singles and doubles portions of the event. The tournament is slated to begin on Friday at 9:00 am at the Collins Athletic Club in Lawrenceville, Ga.
