Two W&L Men's Soccer Players Honored by the ODAC
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its all-conference men's soccer teams on Tuesday afternoon and Washington and Lee had two players honored.
Senior defender Fletcher McCraw (Greenville, S.C./Christ Church Episcopal) was tabbed to the Honorable Mention All-ODAC team, while senior forward Whitt Larkin (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) was named to the Sportsmanship team.
McCraw, a Second Team All-ODAC honoree last season, played in 13 games this season and tallied one goal. He also spearheaded a defensive unit that allowed an average of just 0.85 goals per game and posted seven shutouts. For his career, McCraw played in 59 career games (54 starts) and totaled five points on two goals and one assist.
Larkin collected the honor this year after playing in all 17 contests. He finished first on the team with 14 points on four goals and three assists. Larkin played in 55 career games with 31 career starts and totaled 39 career points on 16 goals and seven assists.
Virginia Wesleyan claimed the ODAC Player of the Year, as Brandon Massie earned that award for the second-straight year. Chris Thomas of Bridgewater was tabbed the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Roanoke's Scott Allison and Michael Stark garnered ODAC Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year laurels, respectively.
Washington and Lee wrapped up the 2008 season with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 4-5-1 mark in league play. The Generals fell to Hampden-Sydney, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament.
