SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the Week ending Sept. 16.
Van Devender helped the Generals go 3-0 last week, including two conference victories. In a 9-0 win over Randolph, she tallied two goals and one assist, while in a 4-1 win over Randolph-Macon, she registered one score and one helper. Van Devender capped her week by scoring the game-tying goal in a 3-1 win over Greensboro.
On the season, Van Devender leads W&L in points with 10 (4g, 2). A 2006 First Team All-ODAC, All-State and All-Region selection, Van Devender set a new school record last season with 57 points on a school-record 23 goals and 11 assists. For her career, she ranks fifth all-time in both points (86) and goals (36).
The Washington and Lee women's soccer team (4-1, 2-0 ODAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Hollins for a 4:00 pm contest.
