Several Generals Earn VaSID All-State Tennis Honors

FERRUM, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their College Division All-State Men's and Women's Tennis teams on Monday morning and Washington and Lee had three women's players and two men's players earn first team all-state accolades. Additionally, junior Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) was named the VaSID Women's Player of the Year, while first-year Head Coach Eric Ishida was selected the Women's VaSID Coach of the Year.

Tabb was joined on the women's first team by senior Kelly Will (Holly Springs, N.C./Cary Academy) and sophomore Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall). Seniors Tim Ross (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) and Nat Estes (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) were named to the men's first team.

Tabb completed the 2008 season with a 22-7 singles record and a 28-3 doubles mark. She was named the ODAC Player of the Year and earned First Team All-America honors in both singles and doubles.

Will notched a 23-5 singles record and went 20-4 in doubles this year. A three-time First Team All-ODAC honoree, Will completed her career with a 72-15 singles record and a 48-11 doubles mark.

Caire garnered First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-America laurels in both singles and doubles during the 2008 season. She completed the year with a 27-4 singles record and a 30-3 doubles mark.

Ross garnered First Team All-ODAC honors for the third time in his career after posting a 13-6 singles record and a 12-9 doubles mark. He finished his career with a 51-29 singles record and a 46-29 doubles record.

Estes also posted First Team All-ODAC honors this spring after going 12-6 in singles and 17-4 in doubles. A three-time All-ODAC honoree, he completed his career with a 43-21 singles mark and a 42-22 doubles record.

The 2008 ODAC Coach of the Year, Ishida guided the W&L women's team to a 28-1 overall record and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The W&L men finished with an 18-5 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
