Three Generals Named to NCAA Women's Tennis Field

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senior Kelly Will (Holly Springs, N.C./Cary Academy), junior Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) and sophomore Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) have been selected to compete in the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship in singles and doubles. Will, Tabb and Caire will each participate in the singles competition, while the duo of Tabb and Caire will play doubles.

Tabb earned ODAC Player of the Year honors and was a first-team all-conference pick in both singles and doubles. The top-ranked player in the Atlantic South Region, she currently owns a 22-3 singles record and a 22-2 doubles mark.

Caire also earned all-conference accolades in both singles and doubles. A two-time honoree in singles, she has posted a team-high 23 victories (23-2) this season. In doubles, she has notched a 19-2 overall record and teams with Tabb to form the third-ranked doubles team in the region.

Will received first team all-conference recognition in singles for the third-straight season. She has notched a 21-2 singles mark and a 16-2 doubles record during the 2008 campaign.

The singles and doubles championships will be hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College May 16-18 at the Swanson Tennis Center in Saint Peter, Minnesota.

As a team, the Generals (24-0) look to defend their 2007 National Championship this weekend in the first rounds of the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The squad received a first-round bye and will take on the winner of Wilkes/Hunter on Saturday.
