W&L's McGlaston Awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senior men's swimmer Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) has been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship. The award is a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
McGlaston was one of 58 student-athletes from all NCAA Divisions to receive the scholarship after participating in a winter sport. The NCAA awards 174 scholarships annually in the fall, winter and spring seasons. McGlaston's selection gives W&L eight winners in the last six years and 27 W&L athletes have been so honored since 1970.
A biology major, McGlaston has earned the W&L Scholar-Athlete designation on seven occasions and also earned College Swimming Coaches Association Academic All-America honors.
McGlaston lettered four years with the men's swimming team and helped lead the squad to a 32-5 overall record during his four seasons. He also helped the Generals finish 14th at the NCAA Championships as a sophomore and eighth each of the last two years. McGlaston owns nine All-America citations and has been tabbed to the All-Bluegrass Mountain team each of his four years. He will graduate as a member of three school-record relays (200 medley, 200 free, 400 free).
McGlaston was accepted to several of the nation's top medical schools and will be attending Harvard this fall.
