W&L Men's Tennis Selected to NCAA Tournament Field

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA announced the field for the 2008 Division III Men's Tennis Championship on Monday evening and Washington and Lee will be heading to Mary Washington for the first three rounds.

The 13th-ranked Generals (17-4) received the No. 3 seed and will square off against sixth-seeded Messiah (8-7) on Friday at 11:00 am. The winner of that match will face the host Eagles (20-6), who are seeded second, received a first-round bye and enter the tournament ranked 12th nationally.

The other first-round match pits fourth-seeded Stevens Tech (15-6) against fifth-seeded Neumann (15-3). The winner of that match will face top-seeded Trinity of Texas (12-2).

The team that emerges from the first three rounds will advance to the National Championships, which will be held on May 13‑18 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Washington and Lee claimed its 13th-straight ODAC Championship on April 20, when it defeated Hampden-Sydney in the final match, 9-0. The Generals will be making their eighth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
