Four Generals Named ODAC Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 30 in men's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's track & field.

Senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) was the honoree for men's lacrosse, senior Nat Estes (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) received the award for men's tennis, senior Leah Weston (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) was tabbed for women's tennis and junior Alysen Kuck (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) was recognized in women's track & field.

Rider was the men's lacrosse honoree after totaling six goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Generals. He notched two goals and one assist in a 15-10 loss to Middlebury on Tuesday, then tallied four goals in a 9-6 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Rider became the 28th player in W&L men's lacrosse history to record 100 career points in the Middlebury game and his career total now stands at 106 points on 74 goals and 32 assists. He has totaled 25 points this spring on 21 goals and four assists.

Estes received the men's tennis player of the week award after going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles during a 4-0 week for the Generals. He won all three of his singles matches in straight sets and won two of his three doubles matches, including an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles in a 5-4 win over 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sunday. W&L has now won nine-straight matches to improve to 13-4 overall, while Estes has posted an 8-5 singles record and an 11-4 doubles mark this season.

Weston was recognized as the women's tennis player of the week after helping lead the Generals to a 6-0 week. She went 4-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles and helped lift W&L to a 5-4 win over third-ranked Williams on Thursday with her victory at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). For the season, Weston is 13-0 in singles and 12-2 in doubles for the top-ranked Generals.

Kuck was named the ODAC Athlete of the Week for women's track & field after placing first overall in two events at the Liberty Asics Invitational over the weekend. Kuck won the javelin with an ODAC-best throw of 115'1" and then won the high jump with a leap of 5'0.25".
