SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee University earned the ODAC Player of the Week award for the sports of field hockey and men's and women's soccer for the week ending September 30.
Sophomore forward Sallie Armstrong (Houston, Texas/St. John's) was named ODAC Field Hockey Player of the Week, while junior midfielder Josh Dodds (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) received the ODAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Senior midfielder Haley Bunting (Houston, Texas/St. John's) earned the weekly ODAC award for women's soccer.
Armstrong was named the league's POW due to her performance in the Generals' 3-2 victory over Randolph-Macon on Friday. She led the Blue and White with two goals, including the game-winner. Armstrong is currently ranked fourth in the ODAC in scoring with 14 points on seven goals.
Dodds scored all three of the Generals' goals this week as W&L posted ODAC wins over Randolph-Macon (W, 2-1) and Eastern Mennonite (W, 1-0 OT). On the season, he owns eight goals and one assist for 17 points, which ranks him second in the ODAC for scoring.
Bunting, after starting in the W&L backfield a season ago, has moved to midfielder this season and scored two goals and two assists on the week. In a 2-0 win over St. Mary’s, Bunting tallied the game’s insurance goal. She also registered one goal and two assists in a 7-0 win over Emory & Henry.
