W&L WOMEN'S SOCCER PICKED THIRD IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its women's soccer preseason coaches poll on Monday and Washington and Lee was picked third among the conference's 12 teams.

W&L received two first place votes, while two-time defending conference champion Lynchburg earned the top spot in the poll with seven first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan placed second with three first place votes.

The Generals return three All-ODAC performers, including a pair of First Team selections in senior forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate), who led the team in scoring with 36 points on 15 goals and six assists, and junior defender Haley Bunting (Houston, Texas/St. John's), who was a major factor in the Generals' defense that allowed just 0.50 goals per game and produced a school-record 12 shutouts.

W&L was undefeated in regular season ODAC action (9-0-2) in 2005 and had an overall record of 13-3-3, while also making its third NCAA appearance in the last four years.

W&L opens the 2006 season against Kenyon on Sat., Sept. 9 at noon.
