W&L MEN'S LACROSSE PICKED FOURTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its preseason men's lacrosse coaches poll on Tuesday morning and Washington and Lee was picked to finish fourth among the league's seven lacrosse-playing schools.
The Generals received 31 points and trail Roanoke (47), Lynchburg (42) and Hampden-Sydney (36) in the voting. The Maroons received five first-place votes, while LC and H-SC both garnered one first-place nod. Randolph-Macon (18), Guilford (12) and Virginia Wesleyan (12) rounded out the poll.
Washington and Lee is coming off a 9-5 season a year ago. The Generals recorded five straight victories to begin the season before dropping four of their final six games. W&L returns 23 letterwinners and six starters from the 2005 season, including preseason Honorable Mention All-America goalie Chris Lalli (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton). A junior, Lalli posted a 7.46 goals-against average and a .605 save percentage last season.
W&L begins the 2006 season on Sat., Feb. 25 as it hosts York College for a 1:30 pm contest.
