SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee University claimed the ODAC Player of the Week in the sports of men's lacrosse, men's tennis and women's tennis for the week ending Feb. 26.

Sophomore attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) garnered the award in lacrosse, sophomore Nelson Bunn (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) was honored in men's tennis, while freshman Meg Spalitta (New Orleans, La./Sacred Heart) was recognized in women's tennis.

Rider helped lead the W&L men's lacrosse team to a season-opening 17-5 win over York on Saturday by scoring five goals on five shots. He scored three of his goals in the Generals' seven-goal first quarter en route to an 11-0 halftime lead.

Bunn helped lead the men's tennis team to a 2-1 week by posting a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles. He defeated Jeff Zenisek, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9, in W&L's 4-3 win over Virginia Wesleyan, then downed Brad Jones (6-0, 6-1) in W&L's 6-0 win over Emory & Henry. For the season, Bunn has notched a 6-4 singles record.

Spalitta went 2-0 at No. 5 singles and 1-0 at No. 3 doubles to help the Generals to a pair of 9-0 victories over ODAC-foes Emory & Henry and Virginia Wesleyan. In the win over E&H, Spalitta defeated Kate Childress, 6-0, 6-1. Against Virginia Wesleyan, she beat Jessica Burns, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and teamed up with sophomore Rhodes Proctor to knock off Burns and Santiera Brown, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.
