W&L WOMEN'S SWIMMING FIRST IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its women's swimming preseason poll on Friday and Washington and Lee was picked first among the conference's seven teams.

W&L, the 12-time defending ODAC champions, received 49 points and all seven first place votes. Randolph-Macon was second with 42 points followed by Sweet Briar, which received 31 points.

The Generals had an overall record of 8-6 and perfect 5-0 mark in the ODAC last season, and return six swimmers who were named to the 2004-05 All-ODAC team.

W&L opens up the 2005 season at home against Marymount University on Fri., Oct. 21. The meet begins at 7:00 pm.
