W&L WOMEN'S SOCCER RANKED 14TH IN DIVISION III PRESEASON POLL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 2004 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division III women's soccer preseason poll was released on Thursday and Washington and Lee earned a No. 14 ranking.
Defending national champion SUNY-Oneonta garnered the top spot followed by the University of Chicago and DePauw University (Ind.).
The Generals were ranked as high as No. 6 in the poll last season and finished with an overall record of 15-2-3. W&L won its second consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament championship and advanced to the final of the NCAA South Regional before falling to Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0, in double-overtime.
W&L opens up the 2004 season against Centre College at the Glenn Hyundai College Showcase hosted by Transylvania University on Saturday, September 11. The match begins at 4:00 pm.
