W&L TENNIS TEAMS NATIONALLY-RANKED FOLLOWING FALL SEASON

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's tennis teams are both ranked among the nation's Top-10 in the ITA Division III rankings following the conclusion of the 2004 fall season. The women sit in the No. 3 position while the men stand in the No. 10 spot.

The women's team is also ranked second in the Atlantic South region while having three individuals among the Top-10 players in the region. Senior Lindsay Hagerman (Wichita Falls, Texas/Highland Park) is ranked No. 1, sophomore Kristen McClung (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) is No. 4, and sophomore Ginny Wortham (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) is No. 10. Hagerman and senior Lora Farris (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) are the second-ranked team in doubles while the duo of McClung and Wortham are No. 7.

The men's team has two players ranked in the Top-25 among all Division III players. Junior David Shay (Martinez, Ga./Augusta Prep) is ranked No. 20 and senior Paul McClure (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) is No. 25.

The W&L men's tennis team opens up its spring season at Furman on Sat., Feb. 5, while the women's team begins its spring season at home against Lynchburg on Thu., Feb. 24.
