CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT AT-LARGE HONORS ANNOUNCED
NORFOLK, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior Joanna Perini
(Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and juniors Lindsay Hagerman (Dallas,
Texas/Highland Park) and Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./Saint
Catherines(Va.)) have been named to the CoSIDA College Division
At-Large Academic All-District III squad on Friday morning. The
team was voted on by members of the Collegiate Sports Information
Directors of America.
Perini earned first-team honors after carrying a 3.562 grade-point
average as a Psychology and Public Policy major. She logged the
majority of the minutes in goal for the W&L women's lacrosse
team, leading the Generals to a 15-4 overall record, a 7-1 record
in the ODAC, their second-straight ODAC championship and their
second-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The ODAC
Women's Lacrosse Player and Scholar-Athlete of the year, Perini
ranked in the Top-20 nationally for goals-against average (6.42)
and Top-15 nationally in save percentage (.593).
A history major, Hagerman also earned an appointment to the first
team after claiming a 3.64 cumulative grade-point average. Playing
at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the W&L women's tennis
team, Hagerman led the Generals to their 13th ODAC Championship in
the last 14 years and a fourth-place national finish in Division
III. After being named the ODAC Women's Tennis Player and
Scholar-Athlete of the Year, she earned All-America honors in both
singles and doubles. On the season, she claims a 31-5 record in
singles and a 29-7 record in doubles.
Murphy rounded out W&L's Academic All-District At-Large
selections with an appointment to the second team after claiming a
3.73 cumulative grade-point average. A midfielder for the women's
lacrosse team, she was named First-Team All-ODAC this season after
notching nine goals, two assists, 23 draw controls and leading
W&L with 27 caused turnovers.
The CoSIDA College Division District III At-Large team consists of
athletes from Division II and Division III schools in Virginia,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. With their
selections to the all-district First Team, Perini and Hagerman will
proceed to the national ballot for consideration for Academic
All-America honors.
