ZAGOL NAMED W&L'S FIRST WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-AMERICAN
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior defender Kelley
Zagol (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) earned a spot on the Second Team
NSCAA/adidas Women's Division III All-America squad, announced
Wednesday morning.
Zagol's appointment to the second team marks the Generals' first
ever women's soccer All-America selection, and highlights a string
of honors stretching through her career. She has been named
all-conference three times and all-region twice in the last three
years.
After leading the W&L defense to a program-record 0.49 goals
against average and helping the Generals shutout the opposition a
program-record 11 times, Zagol was named First Team All-South
Region and First-Team All-ODAC this season. In addition to her
defensive exploits, she contributed four goals and one assist to
W&L's offensive efforts this season.
W&L wrapped up its season with a 15-2-3 overall record and a
9-1-1 mark in the ODAC. The Generals won their second-straight ODAC
title and advanced to the NCAA South Region championship match for
the first time in school history.
