NORFOLK, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball team as a second team selection.
Wolfing is a physics and mathematics major with a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). She played in 121 of the team's 130 games this season, recording a school-record 485 digs. She also totaled a team-high 462 kills, 50 service aces and 44 blocks, while posting a .278 hitting percentage.
A First Team All-ODAC selection this season, Wolfing will enter her senior season ranked second all-time at W&L in digs (1,145) and fifth all-time in kills (1,036).
W&L finished the 2003 season with a school-record 35 wins against just four losses. The Generals won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference for the third straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament South Region Semifinals.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve and claim a GPA of at-least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, including players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
