W&L NAMES AMY FORBES ASSISTANT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh has announced the appointment of Amy Forbes as assistant women's basketball coach. Forbes, currently the assistant women's soccer coach at W&L, begins her appointment immediately in addition to her women's soccer duties.
"Amy's done an excellent job as assistant women's soccer coach and we are pleased that she has taken on the additional responsibilities in women's basketball," said Walsh.
"I'm excited about having Amy work with the team," said W&L volleyball and interim women's basketball coach Bryan Snyder. "She's already familiar with the University and the type of student-athlete we have. She will be able to hit the ground running and will be a big help to the program."
A 2001 graduate of Salisbury University, Forbes served as an assistant coach for the Seagulls' women's soccer team during the 2001 season. A four-year starter in goal for the women's soccer team, Forbes earned all-conference honors all four years, including first team laurels her final two seasons.
At Ewing High School in Ewing, N.J., Forbes was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the women's basketball team.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work with the women's basketball team here at Washington and Lee," said Forbes. "I think the players are very excited and ready for the season to begin."
On the soccer pitch, Forbes has helped guide the W&L women's soccer team to a 10-1-2 overall record, 8-1-1 in the ODAC.
"I am delighted that Amy has the opportunity to help develop some more student athletes at Washington and Lee," said W&L Head Women's Soccer Coach Neil Cunningham. "She has done a outstanding job so far this year and has proved very popular with the soccer players. I'm confident that she'll be able to provide the same for the women's basketball program."
