W&L LANDS FIVE ON ALL-ODAC WOMEN'S LACROSSE SQUAD
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced
its all-conference women's lacrosse team on Thursday afternoon and
Washington and Lee claimed five players on the team.
Senior defenders Eloise Priest (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens-St.
Agnes) and Julie Carskadon (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), junior
defender Sarah Janowitz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior
attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) were all earned First
Team All-ODAC honors, while sophomore attacker Kelly Taffe
(Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) garnered Second Team All-ODAC
accolades.
Priest was named to the first team for the third consecutive
season after anchoring the W&L defense which allowed 7.13 goals
per game. Priest, who has picked up 32 ground balls and caused a
team-high 38 turnovers, also scored one goal. She is a Preseason
First Team All-America pick.
Carskadon was selected to the all-conference team for the first
time in her career after scoring 13 goals and dishing out four
assists. She leads the Generals with 71 ground balls and has caused
30 turnovers.
Janowitz earned first team honors after being a Second Team
All-ODAC pick last season. Like Priest, she has been an integral
part of the W&L defense which has allowed just 7.13 goals per
contest. She has also amassed 48 ground balls and caused 36
turnovers.
Bogart was named to the All-ODAC First Team for the first time in
her career after being a second team pick as a freshman. She was
W&L's top scorer with 58 points on 16 goals and 42 assists.
Bogart's 42 assists also shattered the W&L single-season record
of 30 which she set as a freshman. Her 93 career assists are also a
W&L record.
Taffe garnered all-conference honors for the first time in her
career after scoring 37 goals and registering nine assists. Her 46
points currently rank second on the squad.
Randolph-Macon senior midfielder Erin Reidy was named the ODAC
Player of the Year, while Roanoke's Stephanie Calabrese earned
Freshman of the Year honors. Virginia Wesleyan Head Coach Michelle
Burt was selected as the Coach of the Year.
The Generals, currently 11-5 overall, conclude their regular
season at 12:00 pm on Saturday afternoon when they host Longwood,
the top-ranked team in Division II.
