TWO GENERALS NAMED TO 360LACROSSE.COM PRESEASON AA TEAM

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed two players on the 360Lacrosse.com Preseason All-America team that was released on Tuesday afternoon. Juniors Tom Melanson (Baltimore, Md./Loyola) and Matt Conners (Burke, Va./Robinson) were both honored by the website.

Melanson was one of four midfielders selected to the First Team Preseason All-America squad. He earned First Team All-ODAC and Honorable Mention USILA All-America honors last season after winning 197-of-268 (.735) faceoffs. He also tallied 14 points on nine goals and five assists.

Conners, a defenseman, was tabbed as a third team selection. Last season, he helped the Generals lead NCAA Division III in scoring defense (4.87 gpg). He also scored one goal and assisted on another.

Washington and Lee finished the 2001 season with a 14-1 overall record. The Generals were ranked No. 1 in the USILA Division III poll for four weeks during the season.
