HOLTON AND LIPSEY NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA BY USA FOOTBALL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior football players Justin Holton (Pittsburg, Texas/Pittsburg) and Jayson Lipsey (Longwood, Fla./Lake Brantley) have been named to the Preseason All-America Team by USA Football. Both were honorable mention selections.
Holton helped anchor a W&L offensive line in 1999 that paved the way for a school-record 384.7 yards of total offense per game and allowed just 12 sacks in 313 passing attempts. He was an Honorable Mention All-America selection by the same organization following last season and earned First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State, and Third Team All-South Region honors as well.
Lipsey led the ODAC in tackles from his linebacker position during the 1999 season, totaling 105 total stops. He posted 25 tackles in a win over Bridgewater, just three away from the school single-game record. He was named Second Team All-ODAC and First Team All-State following the season.
Washington and Lee, which was picked to finish fifth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, returns 12 starters to the fold this season.
