HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- At the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference football media day held Friday, July 30, on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College, the conference's preseason poll was announced.
Washington and Lee was picked to finish sixth overall of the league's seven football playing institutions in voting conducted by the league's coaches.
Catholic, in its initial season as a member of the ODAC in football only, received the most first place votes and are the favorite to win the conference title.
Emory & Henry was selected second, while Randolph-Macon was tabbed to finish third. Guilford and Hampden-Sydney tied for fourth followed by Washington and Lee (6th), and Bridgewater (7th).
W&L finished with a 4-6 overall record last season, 1-4 in the ODAC, and return 15 starters, seven on offense and eight on defense.
The Generals will open their season on September 11, when they travels to Baltimore, Md., to take on the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins in a non-league contest at 1:00 pm.
