GAVIN COLLITON NAMED INTERIM GOLF COACH AT W&L
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Mike Walsh has announced that Gavin Colliton will assume the duties of interim head men's golf coach effective immediately.
Colliton will continue his role as assistant football coach, but relinquishes his duties as assistant men's tennis coach. In addition to his duties as assistant women's tennis coach and coordinator of W&L's Duchossois Tennis Center, David Detwiler will assume assistant coaching duties for men's tennis.
Colliton has been a member of W&L's football staff since the 1990 season and has held football coaching posts at Princeton University, Central Connecticut State University, and Salisbury State University. He is a 1984 graduate of Salisbury State with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education.
Detwiler is in his fourth year at W&L after spending the previous eight years as the tennis director at Shadow Oaks Racquet Club in Greenville, S.C. He is a 1988 graduate of Furman University. Detwiler was a two-time Southern Conference champion in singles and a three-time SoCon champion in doubles during his career.
Colliton replaces Kevin Moore, who resigned in October to pursue other employment opportunities. W&L claims 10 ODAC Golf Championships in the conference's 23 years, two under Moore.
