TOM JONES TO RECEIVE AWARD FROM NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINERS ASSOCIATION

LEXINGTON, Va. -- W&L head athletic trainer Tom Jones is slated to receive the Most Distinguised Athletic Trainer Award from the National Athletic Trainers Association at its national convention in Kansas City this month.

The award is presented to those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of athletic training and nuturance of future leaders in the profession.

Jones holds a bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney (1960), a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia (1966), and a master's degree from the University of Virginia (1968).

Following a two-year stint at the University of Georgia (1968-70), Jones arrived at Washington and Lee in the spring of 1970 and just finished his 30th year with the Generals.
