Four W&L Women's Lax Ranked Sixth by College Lacrosse USA
LEXINGTON, VA. -- College Lacrosse USA has ranked Washington and Lee's women's lacrosse team sixth in the nation in its 1999 preseason poll. The Generals finished last season with a 13-3 record and as Old Dominion Athletic Conference champions. W&L also made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1993.
CLUSA also picks W&L to repeat as ODAC Champions and return to the NCAA Tournament. The magazine picks W&L's game at Roanoke College on April 13 as the conference's match-up of the year.
Four Generals were named preseason all-conference. They include sophomore attack Liz Borges (Winchester Mass./ Winchester), senior defenders Cory Mettee (Baltimore, Md./ Notre Dame Prep) and Kimmy Lubin (Wilmington, Del./ Lawrenceville, N.J.), as well as junior goalkeeper Ginny Jernigan (Orlando, Fla./ Dr. Phillips).
The Generals will begin defense of their ODAC crown on March 3, when they host Hollins University at Liberty Hall Fields. Face-off will be at 4:30 p.m.
