Excelling in every sport he played, Al Pierotti '23 is one of the very few men to ever play professional baseball and football.
Pierotti starred in baseball, basketball, football and track at W&L and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa. He later graduated from Harvard Law School.
Pierotti was a captain in both football and basketball at W&L and earned All-America honors in football in 1916 from the Boston Post. In basketball, he helped the 1917 team to an undefeated 13-0 record.
The Massachusetts native began his professional career in 1920 as a pitcher for the Boston Braves of the National League. That fall he began his professional football career with the Akron Pros. Pierotti played one more season of pro baseball and continued to play football throughout the 1920's, ending his career in 1929 with the Boston Bulldogs.
