Brian Laubscher is in his 16th year as the sports information director at Washington and Lee, where he is responsible for the promotion of the University's 24-sport athletic program.
During his time, Laubscher has redesigned the department's game programs and brochures, and has overseen the overhaul of the athletic webpages on five occasions. He has also been instrumental in the development of internet radio and video broadcasting of W&L sporting events, along with several other technological advances that include the production of video shows such as the W&L Sports Weekly.
Laubscher served as the chairperson of the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference Sports Information Directors from 2007-09 and was
selected the conference's Sports Information Director of the Year
for the 2005-06 school year. He serves on the University's
Hall of Fame and Athletic Committees and was the coordinator of the
Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division
All-State Football Team from 1998-10. He has also been a voter on
the D3Hoops.com Women's Basketball Top 25 poll and the
D3Football.com South Region Football Team and served on the
Division III Committee for the Bob Cousy Award.
Laubscher has worked numerous conference and NCAA Tournament
events, including serving as a lead statistician and internal
public address announcer for the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl since
1998. He also served as the media coordinator for the 2005
NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships hosted by W&L and
has assisted with the 2007 NCAA Division II and 2008 & 2009
Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship events, the 1996 NCAA
Dvision I Men's Soccer Final Four, the 1996 NCAA Division II Men's
Basketball East Regional and the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's
Basketball First and Second Round games in Cleveland, Ohio.
A 1995 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor of
science in sport management, Laubscher served as a graduate
assistant at California University of Pennsylvania and was an
intern with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, James
Madison University and Lafayette College before arriving at
W&L.
Laubscher is a member of the College Sports Information Directors
Association, where he serves on the postgraduate scholarship
committee. He and his wife Mindy reside in Waynesboro, Va.,
with their son, Parker (1).
