LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Washington and Lee’s volleyball team was recently honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
W&L was among 62 Division III honorees, and 353 collegiate and high school teams across the nation to boast a squad with a combined GPA of 3.30 or better for the 2007-08 academic year. This is the third-straight year that the Generals have received the award.
Washington and Lee completed the 2007 season with a 29-6 overall record, won its seventh-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh-straight season. W&L holds a 32-3 record in its last 35 matches at home and stands at 71-1 in the ODAC since 2001.
The Generals, who return five starters from a season ago, open the 2008 campaign by hosting the W&L Invitational on Sept. 5-6 at the Warner Center.
