LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee rising senior Tom Brower (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Men's Track/Cross Country team, which was announced recently.
Brower was a first team selection and will now go on the national ballot, where he could earn Academic All-America honors.
A member of the W&L cross country team, Brower garnered First Team All-ODAC and All-South/Southeast Region honors in 2006. He finished seventh overall at the 2006 ODAC Championship and was 33rd overall at last season's regional championship. Brower was also an All-Region honoree after placing 21st at the 2004 NCAA Regional. He is a politics major and the 2006 ODAC Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve, and claim a GPA of at least a 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, which includes players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
