W&L's MICHAELS EARNS IWLCA THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICA STATUS

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior defender Kat Michaels (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III All-America Third Team.

A two-time First-Team All-ODAC and All-Region selection, Michaels spearheaded a W&L defense that was first in Division III in scoring defense (4.86 GAA). Individually, she ranked 22nd in DIII in caused turnovers (2.39).

As a sophomore, Michaels tallied three points on one goal and two assists and was a key to the Generals' defense. She also helped W&L to a No. 6 national ranking in scoring defense in 2006, allowing just 6.50 goals per game.

W&L concluded the season with a 15-4 overall record and an 8-0 ODAC mark as it won its fifth-straight ODAC Championship. The 20th-ranked Generals also made their fifth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Wooster, 14-4, before falling to eventual National Runner-Up Salisbury, 10-7, in the second round.
