W&L's Rankin Named Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year
SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Washington and Lee Head Women's Tennis Coach Cinda Rankin has been named the 2007 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Women's Division III Coach of the Year.
Rankin led the Generals to a 25-1 overall record in 2006-07 en route to winning the program's first-ever National Championship on Thursday. W&L knocked off Amherst, 5-2, in their fifth trip to the title match.
In her 19th year at the helm of the Generals, Rankin has also been tabbed as Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2005 when W&L finished as the national runner-up. She has recorded a 381-57 (.870) career record, while winning 17 ODAC titles, including the last five conference championships. Rankin has also guided W&L to 13-straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearances and is a 10-time ODAC Coach of the Year.
Select Generals will compete in the NCAA Individual Championships Friday through Sunday in Fredericksburg, Va.
