BOTH W&L TENNIS PROGRAMS PICKED TO FINISH FIRST IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its preseason coaches poll and both the men's and women's tennis teams were picked to finish first in their respective polls.

The women, who currently rank third in Division III, received all 11 first-place votes and are slated to win the conference for the 17th time. The Generals completed the 2006 season with a 28-1 overall mark and finished as the DIII National Runner-Up. The Blue and White return a host of players from last year's squad, including senior Emily Applegate Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud), the reigning Division III singles champion, sophomore Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina), junior Leah Weston (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) and senior Ginny Wortham (Richmond, Va./Collegiate), who were all named First Team All-ODAC in 2006.

On the men's side, the Generals are currently the 20th-ranked team in DIII and were tabbed to capture their 12th-straight ODAC title by garnering all 10 first-place nods. Returning to the courts from last year's squad that finished undefeated in conference play (8-0) and 13-9 overall are junior All-ODAC selections Nat Estes (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud), Seth Feibelman (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) and Tim Ross (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga).
