W&L WOMEN'S LAX RANKED 11TH IN PRESEASON POLL

Rehoboth Beach, Del. -- The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recently announced its Division III preseason coaches poll and Washington and Lee was ranked 11th.

Two-time defending-national champion The College of New Jersey tops the rankings, followed by Gettysburg, Amherst, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Cortland, Franklin & Marshall, Salisbury, Colby and Williams, who round out the Top 10.

Last season, the Generals posted a 16-4 overall record (8-0 ODAC) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they fell to eventual-champion TCNJ.

Senior midfielders Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and Maggie Megear (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), junior defender Kat Michaels (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) and junior goalkeeper Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) highlight W&L's key returnees for 2007. Megear, Michaels and Tilbor each earned 2006 First Team All-ODAC honors for the Generals, while Evans ranked fourth on the squad in points with 35 (23 g, 12 a).

W&L opens the 2007 season against the University of Dallas on Mon., Feb. 19 at 4:00 pm in Dallas, Texas.
