SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's swim teams recently earned two post-season honors. Head Coach Joel Shinofield was named Coach of the Year by the Bluegrass Mountain Conference and junior Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches) was selected as the Old Dominion Athlete Conference women's swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Shinofield won his fourth-straight Bluegrass Mountain Championship on Saturday, leading the No. 14 Generals to a 10-1 regular-season finish and qualifying at least five swimmers for the 2007 NCAA Championships.

A psychology and sociology major, Roberson was a member of two first-place finishing relay teams (200 medley, 200 free) and took the bronze in the 100 fly (1:01.99) at the 2007 ODAC Championships.

The W&L women conclude their 2006-07 season with a 7-9 overall record and will return all but one swimmer to their roster in 2007-08, while the men continue their season March 15-17 at the 2007 NCAA Championships in Houston, Texas.
