SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its all-conference volleyball team recently and Washington and Lee had four players honored.
Senior libero Lauren Edmonson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and sophomore outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) were both named to the first team, while senior outside hitter Ashley Hurt (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Trinity Prep) and sophomore right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) were tabbed to the second team. Additionally, seventh-year Head Coach Bryan Snyder was named the ODAC Coach of the Year for the sixth-straight season.
Edmonson garnered a first-team selection for the second-straight season after setting a new school record with 599 digs. She has played in 110 of the team's 155 games this season and also claims 59 service aces. For her career, Edmonson ranks fourth all-time at W&L with 187 service aces and fifth all-time with 1,469 digs. She can become the all-time digs leader with 89 more digs.
Maurer received first-team accolades after posting ODAC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-ODAC laurels last season. She has played in 102 games this fall and has recorded a team-high 362 kills, 334 digs, 49 blocks and 28 service aces.
Hurt earned her first ODAC honor after returning from injury to play in 64 games. She posted 198 kills, 75 digs and 30 blocks, while hitting .216.
Ulrich also posted her first All-ODAC award after playing in a team-best 111 games this fall. She has tallied 258 digs, 239 digs, 68 blocks, 65 assists and 62 service aces, while also posting a .283 hitting percentage. Ulrich was named the ODAC Tournament MVP over the weekend.
Snyder was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year for the sixth-straight year after leading the Generals to a 27-7 overall record and their sixth-consecutive ODAC Championship. Snyder has logged a 204-47 (.813) record with the Generals and is 245-72 (.773) overall in nine seasons as a head coach.
Washington and Lee was awarded the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will play Vassar (25-11) in the opening round on Thursday at 1:00 pm. The Generals will play in the New York Regional hosted by Stevens Tech in Hoboken, N.J.
