LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Head Women's Soccer Coach Neil Cunningham was voted the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas NCAA Division III South Region Coach of the Year and is now eligible for National Coach of the Year honors.

Cunningham guided the Generals to a school-record 19-1-3 mark this season and their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. The South Region Coach of the Year in 2002, Cunningham was also tabbed Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year this season and in 2002.

In his six years at the helm of the women's soccer program at W&L, Cunningham currently owns a 87-16-16 (.798) overall record. In his eight years as a women's head coach at both Washington and Lee and Savannah College of Art & Design, Cunningham has compiled a 149-46-22 (.737) record overall.

W&L completed its 2006 campaign with a double-overtime tie to ODAC-foe Virginia Wesleyan (advanced 4-3 on PKs) in the Elite Eight. The Generals opened the season with 15-straight shutouts and an 18-game unbeaten-streak, before falling to VWC in the semifinal round of the ODAC Tournament.
