TWO W&L FIELD HOCKEY PLAYERS EARN ALL-REGION HONORS
GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) recently announced its 2006 Division III All-South Region teams and two Washington and Lee field hockey players were selected. Junior midfielder Kendall Korte (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) was named to the first team, while senior defender Kim Babbitt (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was a second-team pick.
Korte started all 19 games for the Generals this season and ranked third on the team in scoring with 19 points (6g, 7a). A 2005 First Team VaSID All-State and First Team All-ODAC honoree, Korte also tallied three game-winners and one defensive save this season.
Babbitt saw action in 17 games this season with 16 starts as part of a defense that compiled a 1.22 goals-against-average and eight shutouts. She also notched one defensive save in her senior campaign.
Korte and Babbitt are joined on the All-Region teams by fellow ODAC players Morgan Crandall, Samantha Howard, Ariana Kleeman and Allie Weir, all of Lynchburg.
The Generals completed the 2006 season with a 14-6 overall mark and advanced to at least the ODAC semifinal match for the fifth-straight season.
