GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior defender Rebecca Hatchett (Newport News, Va./Hampton Roads) has been selected to participate in the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Star Game to be held at 9:30 am on Sat., Nov. 18 at William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.
Hatchett is the first General ever selected to play in the game and will be joined by fellow ODAC players Chrissy Clancy of Virginia Wesleyan and Lynchburg's Ariana Kleeman.
After battling an injury early in the season, Hatchett returned to play in 13 contests with 10 starts. A two-time all-state and All-ODAC selection, she has played a key role in the 2006 W&L defense that owns a 1.13 goals-against-average, which ranks 21st in Division III. Hatchett also has notched one defensive save and one assist this season.
The Generals have a 13-5 overall mark in 2006 and will be the second-seed in the 2006 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament that commences on Saturday. W&L will take on the seventh-seed Roanoke at 1:00 pm at the W&L Turf Field.
